Students have spent the last 3 days building models of biomes in Science! I am so proud of the effort and creativity they put in!

Took my kids all 31 days of March, but they finally completed the rainbow for their pot of courage! They did an awesome job showing courage & affirming their peers! Keep me in your thoughts during their free seating day tomorrow 🤪

In order to practice determining the main idea of an informational text, students worked in small groups to match each paragraph from a Schoolnet passage with its correct Main Idea!

5th grade spent the week getting a different teacher each morning to learn about holidays around the world! They learned about Boxing Day, the origin of Christmas cards, Christmas in Latin America and the history of gingerbread! #UnitingOurWorld #GlobalLeaders

Huge thank you to Mrs. Kasserman for coming in and teaching the kids about our CKH word of the month, “kindness”! Students made kindness desk pets, bags for Valentine affirmations & wrote Valentine’s cards for the residents in local nursing homes! Smith Elementary #kindness

Students were able to look at different plant and animal cells under the microscope today! So interesting watching them compare & contrast the types of cells visible! Smith Elementary

Students used cooperative learning today in Math! They used a Jamboard & had designated partner tasks to practice adding decimals! #blendedlearning

We are missing our friends at Sound to Sea, but we are bringing the ecosystem education here! Students are researching an NC ecosystem and creating a presentation all about their discoveries! Smith Elementary

HUGE thank you to Sound to Sea for coming out to Smith Elementary today! Students who didn’t travel to the beach still got to dissect squid, meet a turtle & snake, learn about animal adaptations, start a fire, eat edible wild plants & so much more! We had the absolute best time!
