This evening, the Independence Day Organizing Committee, under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, convened to advance preparations for the celebration of the 65th anniversary of Somalia’s Independence and Unification.

The committee discussed key aspects of the upcoming national event, including the selection of venues, ensuring comprehensive security measures, and organizing various cultural and festive activities to mark this historic milestone.

The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, held a constructive meeting with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia, H.E. James Swan.

The discussions focused on advancing Somalia’s state building and stabilization efforts, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting peace, governance, and institutional resilience across the country.

The Independence Day Organising Committee, led by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh), met at the Ministry of Defense to discuss preparations for the 65th anniversary of Somalia’s Independence and Unification.

During the meeting, the committee discussed the overall importance of celebrating Somalia’s 65th Independence and Unification anniversary and emphasized the need for well-coordinated efforts to mark this historic occasion.

The Independence Day Organising Committee, led by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh), convened a key meeting with the Somali Police Force to assess and advance security preparations for the upcoming celebrations.

This morning, H.E. Minister Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh chaired a working session on the Ministry’s legal and policy frameworks. Discussions focused on legal preparations for the upcoming elections and ensuring alignment with national priorities and constitutional mandates.

H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, had an introductory meeting with H.E. Charles King, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Somalia.

The discussion focused on ongoing stabilization efforts and the deep-rooted partnership between Somalia and the United Kingdom. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, federalism, and reconciliation across Somalia.

The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, held a constructive meeting with the Chief and Deputy Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Somalia.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in key areas, including stabilization efforts, durable solutions for displacement-affected communities, and civil registration and identity management.

The leadership of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation visited the construction site of the Ministry’s new headquarters to assess the progress of the ongoing work.

H.E. Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh, Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, participated in the National Consultative Forum convened by H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, focusing on Somalia’s democratic transformation.

During the second day of the Forum, H.E Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh delivered a strong statement reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to holding direct elections based on the principle of One Person One Vote, as enshrined in Article 47 of the Provisional Constitution.

He further highlighted that the government of Somalia has finalized the formation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, ensuring they are fully supported to deliver transparent and inclusive elections.
