Happy Father’s Day! I’ve had a lot of titles in my career but “dad” is absolutely my favorite.

Almost every core subject can be taught successfully with a chalkboard and textbook.

Broke up a fight on the playground this morning. One kid, unprovoked, punched a fellow student in the face. Then yelled, “it’s time for peace!”

There is a recency bias in education that because something is new it is better than a tool, resource, or teaching method that came before it. I also get that the opposite is true, which is why it’s important you listen to me to figure out which one is right.

Watch a movie from the 70s or 80s that has a school library scene… Every kid reading a book, researching, taking notes…not a computer in site. Looks pretty darn glorious to me.

In case you didn’t know, Thrift Stores are terrific for buying used books.
