Today, the House of the People of Somalia's Parliament officially approved Somalia's membership in the East African Community. This is a major milestone for Somalia and the entire EAC. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to all Somalis & members of the community on this achievement.

The DM of MoCI Hon. Osman Mohamed Abdi, together with DG Mohamed Saney Dalmar, & senior officials from the OPM Somalia 🇸🇴, has today led a meeting bt the Somali Government and the Somali Chamber of Commerce & Industry to gain a comprehensive understanding of the government's newly initiated transformation program.

The approval of the Defense & Economic Cooperation Agreement bt Somalia & Turkey by the 🇸🇴 Cabinet & Parliament is a significant development. This is a crucial in defending against any threats in our maritime domain, especially in response to Ethiopia's aggression in our water.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐰: The preparatory event is set to declare that Somalia is depositing its instrument of ratification for the Treaty of Accession with the EAC . This action signifies that 🇸🇴 has met all the necessary requirements for its membership in the EAC¹.

It's a privilege to present Somalia's instrument of ratification for the East African Community to the Secretary General Dr. Peter Mathuki at the EAC Headquarters. This step officially makes Somalia the 8th member of the bloc, a significant milestone.

Today, Minister Hon. Jibril Abdirashid Haji held a meeting with the departmental directors of the Ministry to discuss Somalia's recent entry into the East African Community (EAC). The meeting emphasized the opportunities that this development presents for Somalia & its future plans.
