"A central fallacy of Israeli strategy is the long-standing belief that territorial depth offers lasting security - Proponents argue that control over Gaza/West Bank is essential to prevent attacks. But that logic collapses in today’s strategic landscape" ft.com/content/05e6f0…

A US client state about to launch a war against a fourth country on top of committing an ongoing genocide is what absolute US regional policy failure looks like. Insanity.

I have yet to see anyone in mainstream media make the obvious point that Israel has a nuclear monopoly in the Middle East and has gone to war in order to preserve it.

Seems like the operative doctrine for Israel now is a region-wide "mowing of the lawn". The GCC should take note - we contended with a real strategic ceiling given US emphasis on maintaining Israeli QME since the 70s. With the events in Iran, it will only get worse now.

Agreed. The case for the GCC states’ developing a credible and independent (of the US) capability to defend against and deter threats is now stronger than ever. The threshold for Israeli military aggression and US appetite to restrain Tel Aviv have become ridiculously low.

The The New York Times reports that the Trump administration was "unaware of any new intelligence" showing that Iran was rushing to a bomb—which was Israel's justification for starting the war when it did. But Trump gave up on trying to restrain Netanyahu

I don’t know how anyone can see the language of domination and religious fanaticism circulating among American and Israeli officials and conclude that this entire march to war has anything to do with the interests of ordinary civilians anywhere.

No one needs to (or should) be a fan of Baghdad under Saddam Hussain, or Tehran under Khamenei's regime. Not the point. Simple question: was Iran imminently close to a nuclear weapon? No, it wasn't. US intel agrees; the IAEA agrees; it's the Israelis that say otherwise.

A war is underway, and many will die as a result. Analysts, journalists, politicians; they all should remember the cautionary lessons of the Iraq war. The 'dodgy dossier' was 'dodgy' before it was even filed, this time around. Everyone knows it. Don't fudge the facts.
