The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs🇸🇴 officially opened a public forum on Transitional Justice and the Path to Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, highlighting it as a national opportunity to ensure truth-telling, victim participation, and lasting justice.

Dr. Abdurahman Abdullahi Baadiyow, Presidential Advisor and reconciliation expert, stressed the need for lasting Somali unity based on justice. He proposed creating a trusted national commission to resolve grievances through Shari’a principles, national laws &customary practices.

Avv. Omar Mohamed Abdulle, Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister, emphasized the need for true reconciliation, accountability, and victim compensation. He urged government decisions to focus on peacebuilding and called for an independent Judiciary Service Commission.

Dr. Ibrahim Idle Suleiman, former Chief Justice and Presidential Legal Advisor, stated that transitional justice is key to moving from conflict to full state-building. He stressed the need to rebuild institutions and ensure justice by holding perpetrators accountable.
