@medicalmodelwithabriochebun Best to avoid including any words which can be misunderstood by patients or used by PAs/others to mislead So cannot include any of the following words: Physician Associate Doctor Clinical Clinician Medical Surgical

We don't need to complicate this. There is a straightforward and simple rule that patients should know. If anyone introduces themselves as a "clinician" or "part of the team" they are highly likely not a doctor. A doctor will nearly always directly say that they are one.

Without a shadow of doubt, I vote YES Wes Streeting Resident Doctors. I’m an F2, I still earn less than a PA. As a CT1 in a few months time, I’ll still earn less than a brand new ACP for multiple years. Wes recommended a below inflation pay award to the DDRB. He is not acting in

The ARRS GP scheme was a quick fix move by Wes Streeting when he started as SoS but it’s not the right way to embed GPs in practices & promote continuity. General Practice have many ideas on how to end the shocking situation of GP under & unemployment we now see. We have a crisis looming

What's that? ARRSE roles don't make sense no matter how you wrap them up. That Wes babes chasing a headline soundbite has meant that he has shit the bed and patients have suffered and the profession continued to be decimated. Imagine my surprise. (Thanks David and Steve)

Anon Gas Consultants can refuse to supervise (per RCoA scope), needing only one in each department to start change. I did this at my hospital, a major central London hospital, gaining half the anaesthetic department’s support. More on this to follow on my page!

Reports of a potential title change for Physician Associates are welcome. The BMA has long called for the return of the name ‘assistant’. We look forward to reviewing the full recommendations as soon as they’re published. theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Valerie (Val) Humphreys Tony Turley Luke Mordecai I’ve not worked with AAs nor will I ever If something went awry at the top end, I’d be useless I want an anaesthetist so I can concentrate on operating Patients are buggers asleep- things happen that shouldn’t and I want someone who can deal with that

James Steen (@bma_james_steen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Anon Gas I’ve not had a chance to watch the webinars yet. But if Leng doesn’t go far enough to protect patients and doctors’ licences from unsafe deployment of these roles, it won’t prevent escalation into the industrial relations sphere.

@medicalmodelwithabriochebun (@medicalmodelbri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Here we have Assistant Nash and Massey discussing the PA title Todays news is welcomed. Back to assistant you go - yay! However, nothing will change until the SCOPE of PAs is limited to prevent a situation such as Pamela Markings or Emily Chestertons from ever happening again

James Steen (@bma_james_steen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So if we’re going to pass new legislation to amend the PA/AA order on titles anyway; There’s absolutely no reason not to take this legislative procedural opportunity to change the regulator too. The GMC was always the wrong regulator. The HCPC is best placed to handle it.

Jason (@dr_jsa) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The new title should *not* have the word physician or doctor in it. "I'm a doctor's assistant" will in some cases become "I'm a doctor...mutter mutter" The title "Clinical Assistant" can be used by both those who work on the wards and those who work with anaesthesia.

ElbowEnvy (@elbow_envy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Jason Then they will probably adapt to saying something like.. I’m a “clinician” cough, mutter.. I’d prefer something like “health assistant”

Leng likely to recommend Physician Associates are named something less confusing. But our legal challenge remains absolutely essential. anaesthetistsunited.com/not-physician-…

Wes is pulling out all the stops. First, he asks DDRB to give you a real terms pay cut. Then, once you get a 0.9% above inflation rise, he suddenly says he’ll fix training bottlenecks (with no solid plans anyone has seen as to how and when), then he leaks that PAs are having a
