It was my honor to speak at the Moms Demand Action press conference this morning opposing permitless carry in North Carolina. It’s common sense policy that helps protect North Carolinians from gun violence. #ncpol #ncga

Devastated to hear of the tragedy in Tallahassee today – more innocent life lost to senseless gun violence. Sending love to all FSU students, their loved ones, the first responders, and the medical teams caring for those injured right now. #FSUStrong

Trump on today’s mass shooting at FSU: "Things like this take place." Gun violence doesn’t just happen. It’s the result of cowardly politicians bought by the gun lobby—like Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis—repeatedly failing us while the gun industry profits.

Today, a 20-year-old shot and killed two people and wounded six others at Florida State University. Meanwhile, gun extremists in the Florida Legislature are pushing to lower the age to buy firearms to 18. No, really.

Shame on every single elected official who sees kids shot in their schools as acceptable collateral damage for unfettered access to guns. Need somewhere to channel your outrage into action? Text READY to 644-33 to join us.

UPDATE: The FSU shooter allegedly espoused white supremacist beliefs, and was even asked not to return to a political debate club. Reid Seybold, an FSU student who knew the shooter, shared his story with NBC News.

What’s truly “a shame” is a president whose first response to gun violence on our college campuses is to pledge to “always protect the Second Amendment”—not the lives of our students, faculty, and staff. apnews.com/video/trump-ca…

I have brought out the same sign every year of my four terms. It shows how Red Flag laws, or ERPOs, can help remove firearms from dangerous people and save lives. Every year without common sense gun reform, the number of gun deaths in our state increases. We must take action.

Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks said it loud and clear: the laws we passed to keep guns out of dangerous hands are saving lives, and as long as we hold the gavel, we won't be going back on the progress we've made to keep Michiganders safe.

I was proud to join Moms Demand Action for their Advocacy Day in Lansing today. Too many families across our state have lost loved ones to the tragedy of gun violence. The way we honor them is by taking action and passing common sense legislation like background checks and safe storage.

Assault weapons have no place in our communities. As I spend time in Honolulu – I am urging colleagues in the healthcare field and residents of the islands to call their lawmakers and urge their support for SB 401.

After I was shot, I went and interned for the director of the ATF Washington . Together I helped put together the faces of gun violence display, to remind the brave people at the ATF who the fight for. I’m gutted to hear they have taken it down. #GunViolencePrevention #ATF #Gov
