At yesterday’s appreciation breakfast we honored our incredible administrative professionals. It was a small gesture of thanks for their dedication and essential support.

Today we broke ground on a 14,000 sq. ft. addition to MiamiArtsStudio 6-12 that will bring 80 new student stations, classrooms for dance, music, and art, a solar panel system, and more. Thanks to the district staff, community, and partners who made this possible.

Thank you to the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce for having me as a guest speaker. It was a privilege to discuss Miami-Dade Schools initiatives and programs that are preparing students to be critical thinkers, innovators and problem solvers as they enter the workforce.

I hosted the 2nd Annual "Evening with the Stars" Awards at MiamiArtsStudio 6-12—an outstanding event celebrating District 8’s shining stars. We honored students for excellence in academics, citizenship, athletics, performing arts, and select seniors with the Rising Star Award.

Earlier this week was Principal Appreciation Day, and I had the privilege of hosting a special breakfast to celebrate our outstanding District 8 principals. Their dedication, strong leadership, and tireless commitment to our students and schools make a lasting impact every day.

At our May School Board Meeting, MDCPS celebrated Academic Scholarship Signing & College/Career Day. Congrats to Mariana Durango Bedran, senior at Miami Arts Studio 6–12 @ Zelda Glazer, on committing to Boston University with a well-earned scholarship!

Proclamation honoring Everglades K-8 Center student Zoe Delgado. Congratulations to Zoe, an outstanding student-athlete. Her success in wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and academics reflects discipline, sportsmanship, and a strong commitment to excellence.

Today, we honored Perla Tabares Hantman by naming our School Board Administration Building in her memory. Her Cuban heritage was celebrated with student performances and heartfelt tributes from family, friends, and colleagues.

Today I had the honor of presenting a proclamation to Mr. Carlos Delahoz, a Miami Coral Park Senior High teacher with 35+ years of service. He has led the Engineering & Robotics Magnet to incredible success. Congratulations, Mr. Delahoz!

Congratulations to my dear friend Jeanette Nuñez on being officially approved by the Florida Board of Governors to serve as the seventh president of FIU. I know her passion and dedication will continue to lead FIU to new heights. Wishing her great success in this new role!

Yesterday I was honored to meet with Northern Ireland’s Minister of Education, Paul Givan along with his team of educational leaders. I’m grateful for the thoughtful discussions and shared dedication to educational excellence.

Today I attended the Fraternal Order of Police Member Appreciation Luncheon. We honor the dedicated men and women who serve and protect our communities every day. Your sacrifice means so much to us all.
