"People living with #HIV who have an undetectable viral load have ZERO risk of transmitting HIV to their sexual partners." - World Health Organization (WHO)'s Lara Vojnov 🇺🇳 #IAS2023 #SayZERO 👏

Congratulations to Monica Reece, PhD and the Gavegnano Group for their outstanding presentation at the HIV Cure & Immunotherapy Forum, organized by the IAS in Brisbane! Their mechanistic analysis of the reservoir from patients in ACTG 5336 provide insight into a novel cure pathway

The results of a novel study presented by Emory researchers during the International AIDS Society Conference (IAS - the International AIDS Society) in Brisbane, Australia, has revealed exciting findings in the pursuit of an HIV cure. links.emory.edu/GZ #IAS2023

“The barrier to an HIV cure is that the virus hides inside DNA of cells. The brass ring is an agent that can eliminate these ‘reservoir cells,’ which would ultimately eliminate #HIV from a person’s body" ~ Christina Gavegnano, PhD Gavegnano Group news.emory.edu/stories/2023/0… #IAS2023

My thesis work in the Gavegnano Group, recently presented at #IAS2023, has been recognized by Emory University as a potential breakthrough in HIV research! We will keep the momentum! IAS - the International AIDS Society news.emory.edu/stories/2023/0…

I presented my work on the A5336 study today at #IAS2023 as an in-person poster! So invigorating to chat and hear that others' work reflects many of the same trends we see! 🆕 BREAKING – Queensland Government's Shannon Fentiman announces that #Queensland, Australia, will remove co-payment for antiretroviral therapy, making these already-subsidized medicines for people living with #HIV absolutely free. #IAS2023

It was fantastic meeting the others in the #IAS2023 #YoungLeadersProgram! Although I only managed snag pics with a few of you, I enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to what we'll achieve together in the future! IAS - the International AIDS Society

News from #IAS2023: Monica Reece, PhD of Gavegnano Group at Emory University finds ruxolitinib reduced size of #HIV reservoir & reversed immune dysfunction. It may have played a role in a recent stem cell transplant cure & could have potential for #longCOVID. poz.com/article/can-im…

It was nice to share my work on ruxolitinib-mediated HIV reservoir decay today at the Emory Pathology Department Symposium! I received some great feedback :) Emory University Department of Pathology Gavegnano Group Emory LGS

Today is the last day of #CROI2024, and Emory University closed strong with 3 talks & 12 posters. Congrats Emory CFAR Members, incl. Tomas Raul Wiche Salinas, Monica Reece, PhD, Vijayakumar Velu PhD, Vince Marconi, Bhrugu Yagnik, Maura Statzu, Susan Ribeiro, Lauren Middlebrooks & Brian Zanoni!

Absolutely correct Jillian Lau! Our model is based on observations from a 12 week study, and is limited to the blood reservoir. But with the markers we identified, we are hopeful the trend is applicable to other HIV reservoir compartments! @tu_idolo_m We love the enthusiam!

I had an amazing time presenting my work at #CROI in the themed discussion and poster sessions! I had many wonderful discussions with attendees and am looking forward to sharing what I've learned with the Gavegnano Group ! Emory University Department of Pathology Emory CFAR Emory LGS

I successfully defended my PhD dissertation on June 14th and am now Dr. Reece! 🎓 It has been a very long, very rewarding journey. I am extremely grateful to those who supported me throughout 🩷 Gavegnano Group Vince Marconi @Hoenhyme Emory University Emory LGS
