Always heartbreaking to go to a current or ex pupil’s funeral. Today was a fantastic celebration of life and just goes to show that we need to live life to the fullest whilst we still can.

Superb first day on year 7 group 2 trip. Pupils were superb and it went without any issues. Roll on day 2….

Year 7 trip, day 2 update. Again pupils behaviour has been exemplary and a great time had in the science museum. On bus now, 1 hour to Leigh-Delaware services, 25 min stop got toilets etc and then home.

Year 7 school trip, all back in one piece, picked up and home. Superb trip, pupils were outstanding, as were the staff! Somebody left an under armour bag on the bus, which is now safe in my car, and I’ll take to school tomorrow. Don’t stress! Islwyn High School Miss Bow Mrs S Cooper

After a fantastic race for life today, a final shout out for the musicians playing whilst people ran/walked. Here’s our year 8 ensemble who were absolutely fantastic (with a guest appearance on tambourine)!!

As always, good luck to all pupils getting GCSE results today. Particularly our IHS pupils who have worked tirelessly (particularly in biology)! If things don’t go to plan, it’s not the end of the world.

Year 8 intrigued by todays lung dissection. It’s the interesting lessons like this that pupils remember for life. Super effort by all involved.

Year 7 (JM) enjoying their first brief observation of a lung dissection whilst trying to learn the basic physiology. Superb as always, and a lesson to remember.

Now that I’m slightly less emotional, I’d like to thank all of the pupils, parents & teachers for their support whilst I’ve been working in Oakdale comp & Islwyn high over the past 17 years. It’s been amazing and I’m very grateful. Due to leaving, I’ll close this account soon 😢
