Elaine Carder was encouraging listening skills with her P2 gps. One child blindfolded the other giving instructions to find an object on the mat. Final task, all blindfolded with Elaine Carder giving the instructions, really tested listening skills. π #outdoorlearning

P3s had to read & correctly sequence instructions on how to plant beans π«. Then they carried out the instructions with a partner and finally the beans were placed outside in their class planters. Elaine Carder very impressed andπ€ the beans will begin to grow. #outdoorlearning

Elaine Carder has been working with pupils to transform the quiet garden into a reading area. A group of P3D pupils helped create the willow structure and 2 boys from P6P helped with the landscaping. We are really pleased with the final result. #Harrysmuirreads #outdoorlearning

Breakfast club was a great place to ask for help with βNo Mow Mayβ posters. Elaine Carder will display some posters in the Hedgehog Haven area where we want to let plants/flowers grow providing food for wildlife Hedgehog Friendly Campus Hedgehog Society Plantlife

The final sessions P3s had with Elaine Carder were about saving π¦. One looked at poisons, like slug pellets, and the harm to π¦ as they eat the poisoned slugs. The other game showed how litter affects π¦ & other wildlife, great discussion π . Hedgehog Society Hedgehog Friendly Campus

Ms Anderson & 2 of our fabulous Reading ambassadors put some of our donated books in the outdoor reading area in the quiet garden today, this will be open at playtime and lunchtime, Happy Reading!π #Harrysmuirreads #ReadingSchools thanks to Elaine Carder for creating this space

P5B did a Team Drawing Challenge with Elaine Carder team members took turns to run to a picture grid, memorise the detail of a box then try to replicate the picture on their own grid. Attention to detail was a must. Not as easy as you would think. Great effort everyone π

P4H were tracking down who left the footprints. Elaine Carder attached a picture of an animal or bird to each orienteering marker and they had to match it with their footprint. Quite a tricky task but good use of deduction skills πΎ #outdoorlearning

Elaine Carder had the pleasure of spending time with some P7s. Each had a go at using a flint and steel then they toasted marshmallow and made sβmores, very tasty π #outdoorlearning

P2D had a very active session with Elaine Carder from squats, press-ups against the pencils, jump and touch in the willow arch and high knees over sticks among other things. Great effort by all! π #outdoorlearning

P7A did a great job litter picking. 5 bags of litter collected, bucket of glass and only 1 disposable vape. Elaine Carder so proud as this helps both the local community and wildlife and of course our hedgehogsπ #responsiblecitizens Hedgehog Friendly Campus Hedgehog Society Keep Scotland Beautiful

P7T used some of the litter collected by P7A & carried out bin bag autopsies to find out the types of litter. Elaine Carder not surprised to see crisps and sweet papers came top. Next step plan of action to reduce this, a focus for ECO reps perhaps! Keep Scotland Beautiful #outdoorlearning

Elaine Carder demonstrated to P6S the importance of green corridors for wildlife. When thereβs too big a gap between habitats the insects/wildlife (coloured balls)canβt travel between them but by adding greenery in the gap they can. #outdoorlearning Hedgehog Friendly Campus Hedgehog Society

Elaine Carder gave P5R a team drawing challenge. Each member ran to look at a grid, memorised one piece & drew it on to their blank grid. Good communication and attention to detail was evident well done π plus 5/5 rating for fun too! #outdoorlearning

The P1s & P2/1 read a book about Ned the π¦ looking for a home. Then Elaine Carder took them to search for the characters in the woods. They also had to spot hoglets & use tally marks to keep count of them. Everyone had great fun π€© Hedgehog Friendly Campus Hedgehog Society #outdoorlearning
