This was not an easy listen. I feel angry, heartbroken, frustrated but empowered. For the sake of everyone, we have to change the narrative.

As a parent, these do not reflect my values. As a teacher, I feel my job is to educate impartially but about all aspects of diversity and values. The prejudice and homophobia in society will only get worse if we don’t. What a sad state of affairs!

And that’s a wrap for GCSE English Lit for another year! We have some very happy students after both papers, here’s hoping the results reflects this in August 🤞

Really interesting talk at Hay Festival about Booktok, The Literacy Trust and making books less intimidating for non-readers. Be warned JB and Julian Morgan I’m coming back with ideas!

What a fab Friday! Working with some of our awesome students and The Ross Gazette on a new project, followed by planning ideas for our new library rewards, and being silly as part of a special video. Exciting things are in the pipeline at JKHS - a great start to the summer term!

It is the honour of my life to have been appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer. Economic growth was the Labour Party’s mission. It is now a national mission. Let’s get to work.

100% agree on everything Jennifer Webb says here. I wish I had more time to make a bigger difference for our kids. But we’re trying, one step at a time…
