Students in Pre-Algebra persevered in problem solving while they found rate of change and slope. This feedback showed our hard work paid off! Cockeysville Middle

I loved using a Padlet to see students define a polynomial expression, then revise their definitions based on different examples and non-examples of them. Laura Potter - your Algebra 1 video inspired this activity ☺️

Our period 9 class... - was excited when they could use Algebra Tiles - celebrated each other’s success on a quiz - admitted that some of us are looking forward to extra time together when our schedule changes It was a pretty great day! Cockeysville Middle

Algebra 1 students were able to make sense of problems in order to decide which strategy was the best way to solve an equation. We finished class by talking about the benefits of each of the 4 methods!

Pre-Algebra students at home and in Room 32 collaborated on Padlet to practice applying the triangle inequality theorem — I loved getting to see everyone in separate spaces work together! Cockeysville Middle

Algebra 1 students discussed factored form of quadratics, thought about where they may have seen parabolas in the real world, and used Desmos sliders to model with mathematics. Then, we talked about whether a quadratic equation was the best model.

Algebra 1 students built connections between forms of quadratics and their characteristics using hexagonal thinking. LOVED getting to see their thinking unfold as groups discussed the best place for each hexagon. Cockeysville Middle

“Ms. Fontinell, can you take a picture of my diagram? It’s too good to erase it.” I love how much vertical whiteboards have really built up the confidence of mathematicians in room 27!

7th grade used vertical whiteboards to prepare for an assessment and prove that nothing is scarier than Kayla Flemmens zombie run time. I still had fun trying to beat her this week ☺️Cockeysville Middle

Lamar in a Car returns to Room 27 ☺️ Former students told their younger siblings to be on the lookout for Lamar in a Car once the Baltimore Ravens started their playoff drive. Kids were so excited to see him when they came to math this week!
