Alignment and line breaks and white space, oh my! For a couplet of days, students explored poetic structure in a variety of poems. It was so fun, they couldn’t stanza it!

Where do poets obtain poetic licenses? From the DMV, the Department of Metrical Verse 🤣 This past Friday, our growing poets earned their poetic licenses!

After obtaining their poetic licenses, students put them to good use, and changed the shape, font, punctuation, and capitalization of the structurally sound poem “Dear Sun” by Takayo Noda!

How do our growing writers analyze poetry? They SLAM 'em, looking for structure, language, affect, and meaning! Here are our students, partnered up, slammin' a poem of their choice during the close-out of Immersion!
