I was just having a conversation about this with a colleague! I’m so tired of seeing this as a recommendation, especially for MLs, and most especially for our vulnerable MLs who are SIFE(students with interrupted formal education) who are learning to read for the first time!

Just a reminder...it is not just teachers who need to be trained in the science of reading. Educational leaders and ed board members need or should, at a minimum, have a working understanding of what evidence-based reading instructional practices are. Why? Because balanced
