I cannot put in words what a phenomenal mentor Domenico was. If I am in a position to serve the EACTS today, it is in a great part thanks to him. I will always be thankful for his mentorship and the opportunities he gave me, and I hope to live up to his high expectations.

Domenico reinfoced EACTS iron hand against gender or minority discrimination. He created a culture of zero tolerance for this very rooted behavior within a “men’s” society. We now see the fruits of this commitment with engagement of newer generations.

I am lost for words to express my sadness for the passing of my friend Domenico Pagano. He showed us the way to rightness, he fought for diversity and inclusion in cardiac surgery, and transformed EACTS. I owe to him the privilege of having served the association as SG. RIP

Patrick Myers Domenico Pagano This is incredibly sad news. Domenico was a dear friend who I deeply admired. A surgeon leader who was always a force for good. A voice of wisdom, kind, and humble. Tremendous loss to all of us. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rafa Sádaba EACTS I am really desolated with this loss. Domenico was a friend and we use to discuss many things through WhatsApp and he was really an importing person. He was the one that launched a movement amongst surgeons to stand up for our believes. RIP and may your example be followed.
