This is atrocious. They go to full capacity September 1st. I have friends who work in daycares worried about their health and safety.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this OBSESSION with mandatory whole-group synchronous blocks of instruction is bound to an archaic logic of traditional schooling, belies best practice in e-learning, and is inequitable for many students. #onted

Caitlin Clark, a spokesperson for Mr. Lecce, said “parents expect educators to return to work in September, knowing that if they are sick, they benefit from the most generous sick leave program in Canada for teachers and education workers.”

Let’s talk about educator mental health for a moment. Doing our very best in horrible circumstances and then being told it is the “bare minimum” is not conducive to #wellness. Full stop. If you have a teacher in your life, please send them an encouraging message. We all need it.

.Stephen Lecce claims that unions instructed members to do the bare minimum during distance learning. Was it before or after they immediately ended all legal strike actions and sanctions even though we still had no contract, just to make sure there we were ready to help in any way.

3 weeks before classes begin and the Doug Ford government announces money for upgraded HVAC systems in schools. When these projects are completed by 2026, Ontario will show the world we stand ready to fight COVID-19.

I can't imagine how any of this will be beneficial to student learning. How can in-person students AND online students get the support they need AT THE SAME TIME?! ETFO Peel #etfo #onted #onlab
