Our principal Ms. LeBlanc was spreading the message on the announcements today about turning off the lights/opening the curtains for our #lightsoff challenge! #savingenergy @HarbourViewElem Green Schools NS

A big thanks to Scott from Green Schools NS for coming in today to show us how to use the energy meter platform! We’ve been checking to see what happens when we unplug and plug in devices! #wattsoff2020 Mrs. Lloyd (she/her)

Grades 5/6 & 6 are doing a great job on the Green Schools NS Energy Challenge! Just wrapped up Week 3 & feeling energized 🌩 for week 4!Here’s a look at some of our favourite moments so far! Ms.Aucoin Green Schools NS #wattsoff2020

Here we go for week 4 of the #wattsoff2020 energy challenge! We will be checking to see how people are saving energy in our school, making posters and even some energy saving themed math this week! Green Schools NS #goelectricbees #lightsoutnodoubt @HarbourViewElem

Today for our #wattsoff2020 challenge we did some “Light bulb Math” to figure out how much money we could save using LED lights in our homes! Then we started to create our own word problems (still a work in progress) using prices of LED lights! Green Schools NS #electricbees

“Remember that time when your parents would yell at you for keeping the fridge door open? They had a reason! Every time you open the fridge door, up to one-third of the cold air can escape!” We were back on the announcements today @HarbourViewElem #wattsoff2020 Green Schools NS

Our #wattsoff2020 challenge this week is around turning down the heat to save energy. Thanks to Mohsjn Khan from @hrce_ns for coming in today to teach our class about energy efficiency & how our school heating system works. Green Schools NS @HarbourViewElem #electricbees

In our Jeopardy Game today, we included a #wattsoff2020 Energy Challenge category. Our grade 6 students nailed these questions about our school heating system- info they learned from Mohsin Khan Halifax Regional Centre for Education early in the week! Green Schools NS @HarbourViewElem #electricbees 🐝

Scott Green Schools NS had questions for our @HarbourViewElem 6’s and 5/6 classes (check out Mrs. Lloyd (she/her) for Scott’s questions!) through our virtual engagement - here are our answers!! #Wattsoff2020 #electricbees

In 6 Aucoin we’ve been looking at our ecological footprints this week! We watched some great videos involving Sammy Sasquatch and realized that most students in our class have small ecological footprints! #goelectricbees Mrs. Lloyd (she/her) Green Schools NS @HarbourViewElem

There was so much to learn during the Green Schools NS Webquest for week 6! Really thrilled to see that NS is making improvements & increasing their Renewable Energy use. #Wattsoff2020 Nova Scotia Power @HarbourViewElem

As a part of our #Wattsoff2020 challenge we had our students make a pledge today that will help decrease their own ecological footprint! We displayed these in our classroom so we can be reminded that our actions count! Green Schools NS Mrs. Lloyd (she/her) @HarbourViewElem #electricbees 🐝

We finished the #Wattsoff2020 challenge! Shout out to Scott Green Schools NS for all of his support and encouragement! The Grade 5/6 class Mrs. Lloyd (she/her) & my Grade 6’s loved this challenge and it opened our eyes to the positive impact saving energy can have! 🐝🐝 @HarbourViewElem
