Happy to see our joint South Africa/France (PROTEA) project coming into shape, lots of interesting work on freshwater shrimps (large branchiopods and caridean shrimps) with Samuel Motitsoe (PhD), Valentin de Mazancourt and Nicolas Rabet. We thank the National Research Foundation of South Africa for the funding for the SA side.

Getting a Master's degree is gaining experience. The research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills developed are highly valuable. Also, there's no such thing as being 'overqualified' if you're applying for positions aligned with your education level!!!

It is our pleasure to name this species, Anacaena fosteri, in honour of Professor Garth Foster, a water beetler extraordinaire on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Brian McGill argues that we should review 2 papers for each submission we make to a journal. If your paper gets rejected and you end up submitting to 3 different journals, then you owe the community 6 reviews. I agree with the general principle dynamicecology.wordpress.com/2025/06/10/y...
