At a time when we are facing huge cutbacks funding for women and girls' rights work, it is encouraging to see renewed investment and commitment by multilateral partners in partnership with the AU.

Some hard truths that ought to be confronted: the backlash against women's right is well funded. We have always known that our gains are delicate therefore must be safeguarded continually, with resolute, systematic and collective efforts.
