Reading my evaluations from the large lecture course I contributed to in the spring took fortitude. They were overwhelmingly positive, but 326 students left comments, and that's a lot of times to hold your breath and wonder if *this* is the student who denounces your "gay agenda"

Years ago, as an undergrad, I went to a talk by a visiting author who said he always wrote his novels twice. Write a chapter once, then write it again. That seemed bizarre. Now 80% of my own process is writing the same thing again and again until I figure out what I really mean.

I'm presenting at SHOT this weekend & I'm prepping my talk, which is about mid-20th-century correspondence clubs & the development of sexual subcultures. I feel like, jeez, I could talk about this for 0 minutes or 500 minutes but I don't know how to talk about it for 15 minutes.
