Over the past two weeks, the NACWG held accountability sessions with Scottish Government to discuss the Third Focus of Scrutiny and examine the extent to which our recommendations on the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and intersectional gender budgeting have been implemented.

Today, #NACWG Co-Chairs are meeting with First Minister to discuss the progress of Phase Two. This is an important opportunity to share the ongoing work of the NACWG and highlight the immediate action needed to tackle gender inequality and improve the lives of women and girls.

The NACWG is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Christina McKelvie. During her time as Minister for Equalities she championed the NACWG with passion, enthusiasm, and ambition. All Members wish to express our sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.

The Scottish Government is committed to accelerating action on gender equality and works closely with the NACWGScot to achieve this vision. First Minister John Swinney was in Edinburgh to discuss progress with council members and reiterate our collective ambition.
