The New Brunswick Bike Exchange is proud to be a major supporter of the Girls in Gear program, which Gabrielle Rossi started in 2019 as a program to get girls ages 5+ more confidently and safely riding through life.

We host an eight-week program in the fall and the spring that teaches life skills through bike skills. She started out with eight girls in a parking lot in the middle of a pandemic, and this month registration opened for the fall season with an expected 400+ participants

across 33 sites in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC led by 100+ volunteer coaches. In order to maintain biking as a right and not a privilege - a no-questions-asked scholarship policy is at the core of our mission to support anyone who needs financial assistance

This policy ensures that any girl, regardless of financial means, has access to our program as well as a properly-sized bike and helmet. 42% of spring 2022 participants received assistance in the form of scholarships, bikes, and/or helmets.

This is where you come in! We have the opportunity to get $15,000 (!) in matching funds from Specialized Bikes but only if we are able to raise $15,000. $30,000 is a staggering amount of money for this little organization which means your donation will go a very long way!

It'll go to safety training for our volunteers, making more of our materials bilingual, increasing our scholarship fund, and getting more bikes/helmets for any girl in need. Any donation you can make would be so, so appreciated. Donation link: give.classy.org/girlsingear

We will be running a $5 sale on kids bikes (20″ wheels and below, not BMX bikes) for the holiday season while supplies last.
