They blocked fire exits knowing people were inside, then set fire to them. Their actions were designed to burn people alive. It wasn’t ’just a tweet’. My thoughts today are only with the people who had to endure that terrifying ordeal.

The UN warns that in the next 48 hours, 14,000 babies in Gaza could die due to Israel’s blockade. The government has now suspended Free Trade Agreement talks, as many of us have long demanded. But we need to show we mean what we say: immediately recognise the state of Palestine,

I agree with Gordon Brown: the two-child benefit cap is cruel and indefensible. That’s why I voted to scrap it — and the Labour whip was removed from me. I’d do it again.

We don't count people's worth in numbers. It's hard to watch politicians celebrate falling migration just days after they labelled people who've built lives in this country "strangers". So today, and always, we want to be very clear: Newcomers are welcome and they always will be.

This is straight from the Tory playbook; people seeking asylum are not Foreign National Offenders, why conflate? It is perfectly legal, and enshrined in the Refugee Convention, for people seeking asylum to travel via irregular routes. It’s a pivotal aspect of refugee protection.

We've heard a lot of statistics about migration and asylum today - but there's one number no one seems to be talking about. Nathan Phillips tells LBC News how the numbers of people dying in our asylum system continue to be ignored.

Would you listen to a woman saying cricketers don't need boxes (testicle protection)? Or does her inexperience negate her opinion? Also, were white people targeted in the riots? No? Then I won't be listening to white people saying what Lucy Connolly did wasn't that big a deal.

Starmer & McSweeney’s power games shouldn’t come at the expense of hungry children. This delay is a political choice - just like the winter fuel cuts. Those in power must think again. This is a moral imperative, not a political bargaining chip. theguardian.com/society/2025/m…

After weeks of negative talk about people who've moved to this country, there's one message we think all politicians need to hear. This isn't an island of strangers - it's an island of solidarity. Stop the dangerous rhetoric and let's all stand together.

Shamima Begum was a 15-yr-old grooming victim, preyed on by a terrorist organisation. Lucy Connolly is a grown woman who called for mass slaughter in the UK completley of her own volition. But who is the right siding with and who did they demonise?

Is it time we stopped using the term "small boats"? What we're usually talking about is *rubber dinghies* being used to try and cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world because successive governments have been too cowardly and morally bankrupt to set up safe routes.

Incredibly generous of Alison McGovern to "not blame anyone for being fearful of change" on Pod Save the UK whilst slashing disability benefits 🙄 PIP was already an unbelievably inaccessible benefit at the best of times. Making it even more inaccessible is indefensible.

the racists are questioning why police released Nationality info. To stop white people barricading fire exits and burning buildings, desecrating graves, dragging people from their cars and punching them in the face. One can only guess that’s precisely what they wanted…

Sophie Corcoran They have to state the race of the white driver who committed this heinous act because of the far right racist cancer that exists in U.K. that you represent. Because else, people of your ilk will attempt to incite another massive attack on muslims and immigrants. I know you are

We won't let dangerous political rhetoric divide us. From tiny community groups to huge national charities, refugee groups to LGBT+ organisations, unions to universities, we're sending one clear message: This is an island of solidarity, not strangers. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
