All of us at National Coal Mining Museum were proud to host a very special event today: the launch of Brian Elliott’s major new publication ‘Miners at War’. Thank you Paul Brookes for such poignant poetry readings and Andy Featherstone for sharing his remarkable memorabilia collection too.


Alongside today’s book launch, Mayor Cllr Darren Byford & Brian Elliott officially revealed new permanent displays here at National Coal Mining Museum. They’re dedicated to the stories of miners who contributed so much in wartime, including the remarkable ‘Tunnellers’ of the First World War.



The Polar Bears and Leopards in Year 2 have had a fantastic day at National Coal Mining Museum 🌟 It was a great way to enhance our coal mining topic and the children were excellently behaved and they loved it😁

This weekend, we had the honour of attending the Glass Checks Commemorative Event at the National Coal Mining Museum, marking 10 years of the Memorial Garden. It was a moving day of remembrance - celebrating the courage, hard work, and spirit of those who shaped our mining heritage.
