The most frustrating thing is watching a team with inferior talent just run tempo and it neutralizes State every time. Dave Doeren is obsessed with calling games to protect the defense instead of hang points on the other team and it once again bites him in the ass.

People need to stop acting like simply spending NIL money immediately equates to successful outcomes. Guarantee you the NIL pool on the field today for State was >>> than ECU and yet you got out schemed and out played by a bunch of guys that cost no more than a scholarship.

Maybe, I don’t know, play with a bit more tempo to get yourself an extra possession or two considering you consistently need more of them.

My immediate reaction is you have to be freaking kidding me. Roper has not been a full time OC since 2014. Unless the reason is we are dumping all the salary saved here into the player funding pool (and that’s not a good excuse) this is an insanely risky move by Doeren.

I’d love to hear the thought process, what Roper has picked up since his last stint a decade ago. Is he going to be more flexible with tempo, will he be focused on featuring specific players, does he somehow have Red Zone concepts he didn’t divulge to Anae?

I’m sincerely curious if Dave actually asked Anae to change things and he wouldn’t. “Kurt has done a great job for us and knows what we need to do to take the next step forward as a program” When you say that about a person ALREADY employed on the team it makes one wonder.
