🚨BREAKING NEWS: We are thrilled to share that Assembly Bill 232 (PERS Equity) was officially signed into law by the Governor! This legislation was a top priority for NSEA and addresses a longstanding inequity affecting our education support professionals (ESPs). #NVLeg

Tonight, in a rushed vote, the Assembly passed the #HollywoodHandout #AB238 by only two votes, despite multiple reports showing that the bill is not economically viable. #NVLeg

On the same day the Governor signed an education budget increasing funding by just $2 per student, the Assembly voted to give $1.65 billion in public money to Hollywood. Every dollar to Hollywood is a dollar not invested in classrooms, student supports, or educator pay. #NVLeg

NSEA echos the view of our national affiliate, the National Education Association: voter suppression is not a relic of the past, it’s happening right now. Every day, educators across the United States are introducing our students to the principles of democracy.

🚨Help us rewrite the script🚨 Lawmakers should focus on real priorities, not "reel" priorities. The same day the Governor signed the K12 budget increasing funding by just $2 per student, the Assembly voted to hand $1.65B in public money to Hollywood. nsea-nv.org/advocating-for…

The #HollywoodHandout is rated F for failed priorities, including a poor use of public money while Nevada ranks 48th in per-pupil funding with the largest class sizes and highest educator vacancies in the country. #NVLeg

It wont. It never has. The budget impacts of tax credits are real. If the #NVLeg passes the #HollywoodHandout, it will cause Nevada to lose over $1.3 billion over 15 years. By 2027, we will lose 160M in general fund revenue to tax credits. Imagine taking away another $110M/year!

While Nevada ranks 48th with the largest class sizes, districts are scrambling to patch deficits with the $2 per student increase they got from the #NVLeg and Governor. Yet somehow, our leaders still have time to celebrate wasting public money for a stadium. #SchoolsOverStadiums

With the backdrop of a budget bill that threatens to strip healthcare from millions of Americans and cut off food assistance for millions of children, today’s harmful decision by the administration puts essential programs, trainings, and supports at risk. nsea-nv.org/about-nsea/med…

Trump just froze $61 million in Nevada school funding and is jeopardizing services for kids. First healthcare. Then food. Now education. All for billionaire tax breaks. Call it what it is. Greed at the expense of our future.

<stares in Special Session> The bill $2 Joe finds “exciting” guts Medicaid from thousands of Nevadans, rips food off students’ lunch trays, and pushes a nationwide private school voucher scheme that drains public money from public schools.

After School All Stars, an organization that is near and dear to my heart, has to end free after school programming for about 1400 Clark County children because of the Administration’s decision to hold $61 million in federal education funding for Nevada. This is key programming
