New research confirms positive impact of nature-friendly farming for butterflies. πŸ¦‹ Together with UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, we've studied butterfly data that show butterfly abundance is 53% greater in agri-environment areas compared to the wider countryside. The Wasp spider, Argiope bruennichi is normally found in the south of England, but is slowly spreading north. πŸ•·οΈ The most interesting thing is the strange zigzag shapes that run down the middle of their web, called the 'stabilimentum'. #spiders #waspspider #insects #bugs

We had a lovely team day Brandon Country Park 🏞️ We learnt more about #air quality issues affecting the Brecks🌲 And even with fighter jets serenading us from above, we still managed to spot a fly agaric, violet ground beetle & some tell-tale signs of long-eared #bats πŸ¦‡
