Does anyone really believe the schools set the day and the time? They don't. TV rules. The network makes all the decisions based on when they believe they will get the best ratings.

The NFL opted for the blah opponent last season in the Giants and despite Drew Lock and Cooper Rush as the starting QBs, the Cowboys' Thanksgiving game still drew 38.5 million viewers to rank in the top 10 among the most-watched regular-season games in history.

The only America's Team also plays on Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Cowboys annually draw the biggest TV audience for any regular-season game, regardless the opponent. The Cowboys-Giants, with Lock and Rush starting last season, ranks in the top 10 all time.
