We created an affordable DNA-based assay for unified genotyping of red blood cell (RBC), platelet (HPA), and white cell antigens (HLA). Testing of over 7,000 blood donors showed concordances of 99.91%, 99.97%, and 99.03% for RBC, HPA, and HLA.

Example of immediate clinical benefit. Patient requiring regular blood transfusions who developed anti-E, -Coa, and -Wra blood group antigen antibodies. No known compatible blood donors. Our results found 5 compatible donors who are now providing life-saving transfusions.
