As anticipated, Texas's #NIL law is being pushed toward amendment after the 2022 legislative leave. Introduced yesterday, the change could set the floor for receiving deals at 18 years old. Notable impact for the HS #NIL front as this defines regs for a state with ~1M athletes.

I think we’ll continue to see bigger brands like Express enter the #NIL space in 2023. Brands are getting more comfortable with navigating the rules and working with college athletes. And college athletes provide great ROI for brands. forbes.com/sites/kristido…

Noticed that Ohio State #NIL collective Cohesion Foundation has sponsorship signage at an Ohio St wrestling meet. The collective is a partner and official sponsor of Ohio St athletics. Home sporting events are great places for collectives to have signage.

This is an #NIL model that I believe other independent athletics fundraising entities will pursue. It makes sense as they already have the donor relationships. And as I told Andy, it’s compliant with current NCAA rules since the school isn’t providing the NIL payments.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that states are including agent registration in NIL legislation. That said, most states with NIL laws, or a preexising athlete agent law, already required a state license. Don’t get caught up with an agent who isn’t registered. 👇

This is big news. The California state assembly has passed the pending bill that would require revenue sharing for college athletes in certain instances. In addition, the bill would essentially end the NCAA's regulatory authority over California universities' athletics teams.
