Maghaberry prisoners on the run in Belfast marathon to raise funds for the Cancer Fund for Children charity. Read more: justice-ni.gov.uk/news/maghaberr… NI Prison Service


Maghaberry has gone the extra mile to raise over £6000 for the Cancer Fund for Children. Half of the funds raised came from donations by prisoners. Relay teams of staff and prisoners ran a virtual #BelfastMarathon around the prison. Well done to everyone on an incredible achievement.

The Correctional Research Symposium finished with visits to Maghaberry and Hydebank. We would like to thank our colleagues at Irish Prison Service for facilitating a visit to Mountjoy. Delegates were very impressed by the innovative rehabilitative work at all the prisons. #CRS2025

Spanner in the Works Theatre Company patricia downey recently provided a performance of the ‘Butterfly Effect’ to staff and prisoners at Magilligan Prison. This play raises important issues around mental wellbeing, homelessness, and the impact of addiction.


Maghaberry horticulture has donated plants to Cancer Fund for Children which raised £2,760. Giving back to the community is central to rehabilitation, and the monies raised will provide support to young people with cancer, those who have a parent with cancer, and their families.
