There are many things we can do, but first, we must #listen. That is why I introduced the “Listening to Mothers Survey Act” (A-1837) requiring the NJDOH to establish a survey to evaluate and improve maternity care access and services across the board. #HealthEquityNJ #NurtureNJ

Through the introduction of powerful pieces of legislation like Bill A-3115, which was signed into law by the Governor in 2019, we can work to eliminate implicit bias, but there is certainly more work to be done. #NurtureNJ #HealthEquityNJ

We amplify the work of people of color by demanding #diversity and #inclusion in all fronts because, without these elements, we can never fully capture the needs of the community or best understand how to create solutions through policy. #NurtureNJ #HealthEquityNJ

One major social determinant of health is housing. Housing determines access to education, childcare resources, &more that impact daily life. That is why I proposed "The People's bill," A-4034, to help families in need of housing assistance in the midst of the #COVID19 pandemic.

As an expecting Black mother & legislator, I have used my voice & lens to bring light to the inequities that exist in the healthcare community. Expecting Black mothers' voices are pushed to the side during delivery & leading up to. I use this lens to legislate on their behalf.
