Good morning everybody! We have started! Another exclamation mark! Sanne Vrijenhoek is opening the workshop ACM RecSys and giving a short primer on normativity and the context of recommender systems #recsys2024

In Blades of Glory, Will Ferrell said “no one knows but it means, but it’s provocative; it gets the people going” In this case, we are turning computer scientists into philosophers as we are now analyzing this disagreenote proposition in our discussion. #RecSys2024 ACM RecSys

We’re back for the second session of our workshop, on policy and values. We’re still in Room L! Here is Jannie Møller Hartley talking about Diversifying for Democracy: Cultivating Publics via Algorithmic Design and the Normative Consequences for Journalism. #RecSys2024

Damn proud of this crew. We ran the 2nd edition of normalize-workshop.bsky.social today ACM RecSys. We had excellent discussions about policy, law, values & more. In our disagreenotes, we even questioned whether NORMalize should continue (but the crowd of 30 people said yes) #RecSys2024

PROCEEDINGS CLAXON We are proud to share the proceedings of the second edition of the NORMalize workshop at ACM RecSys. We share 6 papers that address the normative design & evaluation of recommender systems, each taking a different perspective: ceur-ws.org/Vol-3898/ #RecSys
