On #WorldEnvironmentDay, we celebrate #BahariMoja – a community-led effort in Kiunga community conservancy to clean beaches, protect sea turtle habitats, and restore coastal ecosystems. So far: ♻️ 96 tonnes of plastic recycled since 2019 ♻️ 4 tonnes in 2024 #BeatPlasticPollution

Yesterday, we joined Sera Conservancy to mark #WorldGiraffeDay 🦒 under the theme 'Protecting Earth’s Tallest Land Animals.' Sera, known for rhino protection, is also home to 146 reticulated giraffes, up from 70 in 2023 thanks to Twiga Walinzi programme supported by San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance

Last week, we wrapped up a 3-day meeting with the Carbon Council of Elders, Native& #NRT. A key agreement was reached: ✅ More community control ✅ Local leadership support ✅ Fairer benefit sharing A big step for community-led climate action in Northern Kenya.🌱 #CarbonProject

We were honoured to host AICS Nairobi for their second visit to NRT this year. Over 4 days, they toured conservancies in Laikipia, Isiolo, Samburu & Baringo, seeing Italy’s impact on peace, livelihoods & conservation. Grateful for this strong partnership!

Happening Now: KWCA 11th Annual General Meeting. This year the meeting will among other things admit new conservancy members, elect new leaders, adopt 2024 financial statements and new auditors.

Today, on #WorldRangerDay, we honour the courage and sacrifice of rangers—from protecting coral reefs to defending iconic species like elephants and rhinos. To the over 1,000 rangers who serve across NRT’s 45 conservancies, as guardians, leaders, and changemakers, we salute you.
