Thank you to all of our fantastic speakers and now our panel discussing the hugely important topic of equal protection this afternoon. Now is the time for the law to catch up with societal attitudes and stop physical punishment of children in Northern Ireland.

Thank you to Justice NI Minister Naomi Long MLA for attending our equal protection event this afternoon. Now is the time for us to end physical punishment of children across NI and give them the same protection from assault as adults.

Every child deserves the same legal protection from assault as every adult. The law now provides cover for abuse, I hope to remove that loophole with an amendment to the Justice Bill. The call for this reform comes from professionals dealing with child safeguarding. NSPCC NI
