As floodwaters continue to move across the state, parts of the road network remain impassable due to thick mud. Yesterday, an #RFS helicopter was tasked with locating and rescuing a local farmer whose vehicle became stuck in deep mud, more than 160 km north of Bourke.

Although much of the state is now outside of the BFDP, the risk of fire within the landscape still remains. Earlier this afternoon, #RFS crews responded to a grass fire that was threatening properties, but thanks to the efforts of firefighters, the fire was quickly contained.

Whether you're heading away this long weekend or staying home, we want everyone to be safe when it comes to the use of fire. While most of the state is outside of the BFDP, you are still required to notify the #RFS & your neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting your burn.

With high fire danger forecast across parts of NSW this weekend, landholders intending to burn should assess weather conditions and consider postponing your burn until weather is more favourable. Remember to notify at least 24 hrs before lighting up. #RFS rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
