The Devon Express looked a treat at East Arm in late June, collecting northern feeder cattle for Indonesia. A regular visitor to Darwin and a quiet workhorse of the live trade. The first time I photographed the Devon was in March 2016 at Portland (Vic) loading breeders for China.

A yard of 42 NT buffalo in from Bishop Bore featured among the drafts of cattle at today’s Katherine Show Sale conducted by Elders. The well presented buffalo were a credit to the vendor, averaging 292kg and achieving $2.46/kg for live export to Indonesia.

A superb draft of 15 Wave Hill steers averaging 341kg secured the top price at yesterday's Katherine Show sale, making $3.48c/kg or $1180/head. Hats off to the vendors and agents on an excellent event which drew strong live exporter buying support. Elders NTCA

16,763 livestock shipped from NT in July to Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. August’s first ship loaded today for the Philippines which, like all livestock exported from Aust, were vet inspected by an AAV and Govt RVO in quarantine to confirm health & disease-free status.

NT Ag Minister Paul Kirby visited key parts of our export supply chain today, including Don and Kelly White at Bridge Creek. With significant trade uncertainty for so many northern livestock business operators, we are very grateful for the Minister’s ongoing advocacy and support.

A strong 'Team Territory' effort has been decisive in achieving a much-needed breakthrough for livestock exporters supplying Indonesia. More work to be done, especially to support the many NT supply chain businesses left in limbo for several weeks by the recent restrictions.

The lifting of restrictions on seven export yards by Indonesia is being welcomed with relief across the northern Australia cattle industry, but clarity is still being sought on conditions agreed to by Governments of both countries 👉 loom.ly/4ZPoZ1g

We were delighted to host Chief Minister Natasha Fyles at the yards today. After a rough weekend, she was straight back to work to talk up the new Netflix drama being filmed in the NT. Our chairman Ken Vowles was on hand for crowd control, but all cattle were very well behaved.
