A #farmer in #Langdale has made a plea to #tourists to stop visiting the #LakeDistrict after his step father-in-law died of #coronavirus. Jonathan Benson says the car parks are full and he has to keep using the gates they're all touching while walking in the fells to do his job.

Despite the Government health warnings, people have still travelled in numbers to the Lake District. A national emergency is not an excuse for a holiday. Everyone should be heeding warnings and stopping non-essential travel. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19

We’ve closed our parks and gardens to restrict the spread of coronavirus, as well as, built properties. Many of our car parks for countryside and coastal locations are now likely to be closed. We urgently request people to stay local, observe social distancing and to not travel.

With the weekend ahead of us, we're urging everyone to stay at home. Take a moment to notice nature from your window as spring blooms.

We are reminding the public NOT to travel into the Lake District this weekend. Daily exercise should not include travelling to a different area than that in which you live - this should be done closer to your home. orlo.uk/ywXCD #Covid19UK #StayHomeSaveLives

In the coming weeks, we'll remember to share nature, beauty & history photos from our library, to bring some joy into your home. Enjoy this Herdwick ewe and lamb and remember tonight in your home, the clocks spring forward. #everyoneneedsnature #LakeDistrict

Each year we look forward to the blossom season. During these uncertain times, we want to bring blossom to where you are, to hopefully lift your spirits. Use #BlossomWatch to share joy and photos with others who can’t see blossom for themselves right now. #everyoneneedsnature

End of month memory. A slightly more grey Upper Eskdale, this day 3 years ago, but always striking. Rangers captured photos whilst working near Lingcove Bridge and chatting with walkers about the importance of staying off the valuable wetland habitat. #LakeDistrict #nature

Great news from fixthefells NT Scafell Pike Riley a spaniel is the first NT ranger dog to be trained to seek, find and indicate buried drains on upland paths. Riley is shown sitting by a full drain on Lingmell Col, waiting for staff and volunteers to clear it. Nice one Riley.

We’ve been so grateful for the messages of support from our members. When the nation can travel and visit places again, people will need nature, beauty and history more than ever. Thank you.

Remember, to restrict the spread of coronavirus, our houses, parks, gardens and many car parks are closed including the car park at Wasdale. We ask that people do not travel and stay local. Share with us your local view of nature. Lots of trees are blossoming. #LakeDistrict

Today would have been William Wordsworth’s 250th birthday. As he famously ‘wandered lonely as a cloud’, his most well-known poem was an ode to spring blooms. Have a go at penning your own poem inspired by nature.
