Who else gets so frustrated that sellers don't include dimensions for their products you use the product pictures, and some known dimension to figure out what the dimensions I care about are so I don't have to wait for delivery?

macOS's tty impl (in the kernel) has a 1024 byte internal buffer limit for cooked mode. After that, writes succeed but the data is silently dropped. iTerm2 works around this by sleeping ~16ms between writes. My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.

Could this be the origin of "Swastik" in ancient Indian religion? The Sanatan Dharma? There is clear mention of this phenomenon in Ramayan in Aranya Kand.

Excalidraw I know she’s totally not in the target group but thank you for making a UI that is so straightforward and has such a great effort-to-power curve that even my 6 year old gets value out of it. Love Excalidraw, keep up the great work folks ❤️

First time using timer-triggered chained DMAs, where one DMA channel writes into the descriptors of another DMA channel to change what the other DMA is doing. This is just a 8x9 matrix array in a 6x12 configuration on a ch32v003, with #ch32fun github.com/cnlohr/cnhardw…

New blog post: Construction Lines I turned 39 today. My career turns 20 this summer. Prompted by a recent career shift, I paused to reflect; and ask myself “What has brought me the most joy — and why?” lea.verou.me/blog/2025/cons…

Fave recent micro-productivity hack: aliasing ⌘T to New Tab to the Right via OSX settings¹ 1. Makes tab groups work properly for isolating work 2. Eliminates the spatial disconnect of having to hunt a newly opened tab down in a different part of the UI Thank me later :) ¹

To illustrate the amount of area wasted, we used the SemiAnalysis Die Yield Calculator (semianalysis.com/die-yield-calc…) to compare how much waste area there is using a 300mm wafer vs a 510 x 515mm panel wafer using an interposer that is 61 x 68mm. Our results show that panel wafers

These really were two of the biggest game changers for me with KiCad PCB -- one is dumb and simple and optional, the other requires more effort but ... woah, does it pay off for me. What are your big efficient tricks when doing schem or layout? youtube.com/watch?v=T-voZI…

If there was one "trick" I wish someone explained in more detail earlier in my career, it was to encourage me to use LUTs to solve problems, and look for areas of their application. youtube.com/watch?v=LnqqvV…

An insurance agent, hearing that I have a background in computer security, asked for some general advice. I'll repeat it here: 1. When your device tells you there are updates, install them. 2. If a message pops up asking "are you sure you want to do this" the answer is no.
