The Secondary Learning Centre pupils have been visiting Lochduhar care home for the past two weeks as part of our "Spread a little happiness" topic. We have played board games with the residents, read to them, chatted to them. It has been so lovely to get to know them all.

On Tuesday pupils in S1 RME went on a religious safari around the local area!  They then explored the historical significance of Lincluden Abbey as a religious site and took part in a 'murder mystery' task to investigate different perspectives on why the Abbey fell into ruin.

The defibrillator that wre recently donated to the YMCA has been delivered and installed! Kara, Hailey and Phoenix were delighted to visit and see where they had put it. It is good to know that it will be put to good use and that the legacy of Mr Hannay continues.

The S1's at NWCC attended the Bang Goes DG event at the Easterbrook Hall, where they had lots of fun engaging with employers and educational establishments relating to industries in the STEM sector. The event was organised by DYW and NWCC Science Department.

Brilliant effort by the pupils that volunteered to help Active Schools and NWCC primary with their sports day on Wednesday. Thanks for all you did in making the event run smoothly.

The Secondary Learning Centre have raised some funds for the Canine Rescue Centre as part of our "Spread a little happiness" topic. We took the funds over this morning and had a chance to play with three of their lovely dogs. Thanks for having us over, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Excellent trip Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum to take part in the annual art competition. We also got to see famous artwork from Salvador Dali, Picasso, Cezanne and SJ Peploe.

The Secondary Learning Centre is busy revamping our outdoor space. We were lucky enough to be gifted big planters for free by Craig from Amcor, as well as some soil for free by Aldi Glasgow Road. The pupils are working hard to plant some vegetables and flowers.

I just wanted to share the success of our YPI 2025 winners; April Fahey, Faith Kirk, Katie Moorehouse, Katie-Jo Crocket and Seth Robertson! They won £3000 for their chosen charity, Dumfriesshire and Stewartry Women's Aid with their fantastic presentation and drama skills.

The Secondary Learning Centre did a 20 minute litter pick yesterday...and in just 20 minutes we managed to fill an entire black bag with rubbish from Alloway Road. Well done Maizie, Kaiden, Jodie and David!

Pupils and staff voted for their favourite animal drawing for term four drawing competition. Well done to Mollie (s1) who was the winner and Miss Roberts who came runner up 👏🏻🎨

Thank you to Keith from Shambellie House who delivered photography workshops to senior Art pupils. They learned how to create their own cyanotype prints with some lovely results. Well done everyone 🙂

Phoenixx in S4 competed at the 2025 Celtic Cup Championships in Edinburgh on 7th and 8th June for Baton Twirling with athletes from all across Scotland and England. Phoenixx won her section becoming 2025 Celtic Cup Champion in the Junior Level C Category. What an achievement ⭐️

If any of our pupils would like to attend, this is happening on Thursday night from 5.30pm.

There will be a bake sale on the 20th June in school at break and lunch time to help fund the Learning Centre's end of term trip
