Thank you Pitt County Schools board chair James Tripp for organizing the 1st North of the River Back to School Give Away & PCS Forum! Our awesome principals, including my stellar Northwest Elem principal @saraic12, enjoyed connecting with families and sharing their vision for the next year!

Today Northwest Elem. took a Tiger Tour to visit our kids in some of the neighborhoods that we serve! It was great to get excited for school WITH our community. We were able to truly meet our kids where they are, and give away some books and popsicles at the same time! 🐯Pitt County Schools

Last week, our 4th grade scholars simulated animal adaptations by testing how effective different tools were for collecting various “food” sources! PCS_STEM

Yesterday NWE Tigers showed up for the #PinkRibbon Run! We appreciated supporting this important cause, remembering our loved ones, and celebrating our warriors! 💕

This year Northwest Elementary School have five awesome international educators who broaden students horizons and every day. Thank you Pitt County Educational Foundation and Pitt County Schools for facilitating an afternoon for int’l teachers across our district to spend time and learn together! 🌎

Fall Festival and STEM night at Northwest Elementary School was a success! Our staff, students, and families came together as a community, and we had a blast! Thank you to everyone who made it out, and a special thanks to those who worked hard to make this happen!

We’re still smiling about all the happy families who made it out to Fall Festival and STEM Night. Our NWE scientists mixed up “ghost slime”, piloted Spheros through an obstacle course, designed candy catapults, and made their own LED light circuits! #NationalSTEMDay PCS_STEM

Our Northwest Elementary School student engineers have enjoyed STEM Days! This week, K tested self-made boats, 2nd designed parade “floats”, 3rd dissected owl pellets, and 4th and 5th measured how far their freshly constructed K’Nex vehicles would roll compared to prototypes! PCS_STEM

Meet Chevel Johnson! She is an incredible int’l teacher Northwest Elementary School Pitt County Schools. This is her first year in the US, and her 3rd graders were excited to meet Jamaican students virtually for a cultural exchange Q & A about school transportation, foods, and activities! #NCstoriED 🇺🇸🏫🇯🇲

Can we talk about the beautiful and affirming messages one of our 4th grade classes chose to leave on our media center dry erase tables for the younger groups who would enter later in the day?! If this doesn’t make your heart grow three sizes bigger… 🐯💗

Thanks Keith Neal for spending time with us today! Mr. Keith Neal shared his story of the power of early goal-setting and challenged our kids to consider their own goals and resources. Our 5th graders were excited to meet Mr. Neal as he will be their Wellcome Middle principal!

We enjoyed hosting Pitt County Schools international teachers this afternoon as they discussed organizational practices that benefit them and their students! We value how our own international teachers bring a richness of worldview into their classrooms every day!

Our principal Sara English goes the extra mile to keep our kids motivated toward success! Today, our 3rd grade math superstars who met their goals in multiplication had the chance to pie her! We 💛 Mrs. English!

Don’t forget to come out and see some of the wonderful artwork out Tigers have turned out this year, and also have fun while learning with North Carolina Science Festival STEM activities on Tuesday, April 4 from 5:30-7 pm!…Free ice cream sundaes while supplies last! 🎨👩🏾‍🔬🍨

Our 3rd graders enjoyed learning about soil and seed germination today! Thank you so much to the great facilitators from Thermo Fisher for spending this time with our students! They can’t wait for the seeds in their personal greenhouses to sprout! 🌱 PCS_STEM
