Cautious optimism regarding the Morecambe Bay cockle fishery this year. Flookburgh looked OK, and our officers are now surveying all other beds across the Bay. Members will then consider officers' findings and, at the end of May, vote on a potential July opening.

Officers attended the inaugural National Fishing Remembrance Day services in Fleetwood and Maryport yesterday. A fitting tribute to those who have lost their lives bringing home the catch.

There was a great turn out on Tuesday for the TSB meeting. There was a lot of engagement from all parties. There was also plenty of constructive debate on how best to manage our fisheries. More comms to follow regarding actual opening of the cockle fisheries.
