Northerly winds will increase this afternoon with gusts upwards of 30 mph possible. This will cause waves to build this afternoon and evening to 2 to 5 feet at beaches south of Whitehall. north facing piers are especially vulnerable. Waves will be highest after 4 PM.

If you see lightning or hear thunder, your best bet is to move indoors or into a hard-topped vehicle away from large trees. Scattered thunderstorms are favored to develop Friday and Saturday. A few in Michigan could be severe with locally damaging wind gusts.

Overall there has been a downward trend in the coverage of thunderstorms today and Saturday. If storms develop they could be strong to severe with winds 40-60 mph being the main concern. Lightning, heavy rain, and minor road flooding is possible with any thunderstorm. #wmiwx
