Steve Gill ๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ All true - the one caveat is that if the patient was already producing aerosols through exertional respiratory activity or cough they will continue to do so with CPAP & HFNOโ€ฆ..but itโ€™s the patient not the procedure (& the CPAP/HFNO even reduces it a bit) Nick Wilson Euan Tovey

Fantastic talk from Nick Wilson ! The science behind the elusive โ€œAGPโ€ and the (lack of?) evidence at such a central topic to the pandemic. Why did these precautions become so apparent? Weโ€™ve never seen a cough cloud before eitherโ€ฆ #EAFest2022 #AGP

Thanks Anaesthesia for the recognition. Aerosol scientists, clinicians and statisticians collaborating made it happen. Humans only accomplish awesome achievements when they work together! #sendingscience

Hospital-Acquired COVID-19 in England, 16th Mar 2023 In the last 28 days, of 26,484 patients in hospital with Covid-19, 8,644 probably or definitely caught it there (32.6%) Looks like >30% is standard now. This isn't great. 1/

Our new study suggests carbon dioxide monitoring could be used to identify areas of inadequate environmental ventilation within acute hospital areas. Ensuring all hospital areas have adequate ventilation could reduce the risk of airborne infection. โ€ฆ-publications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11โ€ฆ

๐ŸšจDuring the 1st national lockdown, SARS2 infection risk was 3.5x greater in patient-facing healthcare workers compared to non patient-facing staff Then & now, hospital infection control policies fail to address air hygiene Did you know that NHS leaders don't care about air?
