We can’t stop everything Trump is doing, but we can pass New York For All to ensure local and state agencies aren’t aiding and working with ICE. We need to come together and pass this bill now!

As we saw yesterday, ICE enforcement presents a growing threat to New Yorkers—regardless of citizenship status. The legislature should hold a special session to pass State Senator Andrew Gounardes & Assembly Member Karines Reyes, R.N.’s bill, NY4All, this year. We must do everything we can to protect our people.

New York For All should have been passed years ago. I’ve called for a special session to pass it in the immediate wake of Trump’s election & I continue to call for its passage. We just wrapped up session a few hours ago but I am will ALWAYS willing to go to Albany to get it done!

We are seeing more and more reporting about how the NYPD is helping ICE, how lawmakers are being denied their oversight rights, and how NYers are being dragged away without warrants. Reconvening to pass #NY4All is the bare minimum we can do spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-ny…

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Social Workers & Allies Against Solitary Confinement founder Moya Atkinson. She had a profound impact in her long life, and in her final decade, she turned her passion to ending solitary confinement. She will be greatly missed.

Today’s court decision confirms that Mayor Eric Adams’s executive orders to circumvent the local law banning solitary confinement were an unlawful abuse of power. Solitary confinement is proven to make jails and our city less safe. The mayoral administration must follow the law.

Mayor Adams continues to sidestep the legislative process and abuse his power for political gain. Solitary confinement is torture—full stop—and has no place in NYC. Grateful the courts have reaffirmed what we’ve always known: it’s time to fully implement LL42.

Good. Agencies cannot just decide which laws they feel like following. That's not how the rule of law works. The judge wrote that DOCCS “wholly failed to demonstrate” that suspending HALT had "a basis in rational fact"

Legal Aid secures a preliminary injunction against DOCCS for its far-reaching rollback of HALT, a landmark human rights law that limits the use of solitary confinement in NY. More: legalaidnyc.org/news/court-rul…
