The NYPD 61st Precinct April 2025 Community Council Meeting is being held this Wednesday, April 09 at 7pm @ YDE School, 2533 Coney Island Avenue, 11223. This is a great opportunity to engage on 61st Precinct topics held with our Community Officers & Representatives.

It was great visiting the NYPD 61st Precinct day tour roll call. Very impressed by the team's professionalism & commitment to community policing. Keep up the excellent work!

A reminder to our local business owners and employees: Always remain vigilant in securing your premises after hours. Lock doors, gates, keep areas well lit and set alarms properly.

Trucks continue to unlawfully take spots from our residents. In this location by a school, they obstructed school buses from safely picking up & dropping off students in wheelchairs. Traffic agents helped us address the safety concern quickly to alleviate the hazardous condition.

Beware of people who try to assist you at an ATM. This action may be related to a scam where an individual steals your debit card and swaps it out with a fraudulent debit card. Check out some prevention tips⤵️

Our team has worked closely with the Traffic Dept to address ongoing concerns about commercial vehicles and trailers parking on our residential streets. This joint effort has freed up some much needed parking for our residents. We will continue our work with the Traffic Dept.

The Traffic Safety team discussed pedestrian safety tips and precautions with our vulnerable members of the community, senior citizen residents. Flyers were handed out and reflective tape was attached to residents' canes and walkers to help increase visibility to motorists.

While patrolling the Nostrand Houses late Monday night, Sergeant Brandman, PO Wong and our Public Safety Team responded to a radio call of a man with a firearm. When they observed an individual matching the description they were able to apprehend him without incident. Great job!

Yesterday our Traffic Safety Team met with residents of one of our senior assisted living facilities to discuss pedestrian safety. Informational flyers were distributed and reflective tape was affixed to walkers, canes and wheelchairs to enhance the visibility of our seniors.
