Honoring PO Gerard Carter on his birthday with a celebration & the unveiling of his memorial wall. PO Carter, a dedicated housing cop, was tragically killed in 1998 in Staten Island. We recognize his mother, Martha, wife, Jozette, & his son, Louis, as we remember his sacrifice!

Today I had a great meeting with NYCHA leadership to discuss how we can improve safety and quality of life for residents and their guests. Grateful for the collaboration and commitment to creating stronger and safer communities.

Yesterday, in a moving ceremony at 1 Police Plaza, 51 officers and 1 civilian were honored and forever enshrined on the NYPD Memorial Wall. Surrounded by loved ones and fellow officers, we paid tribute to their service, courage, and sacrifice. Never forgotten.

It was an honor to speak with the recruits currently in the NYPD Academy. Soon, 71 of these brave men and women will be assigned to housing developments across New York City—working to keep residents and visitors safe, and to build stronger, safer communities.

Uniform members of the Housing Bureau gathered alongside line-of-duty families at St. Frances de Chantal Church for the 3rd annual Housing Memorial Mass. The service honored & remembered officers who died protecting this city and those we have lost from 9/11-related illnesses.

It was a pleasure to take part in a meaningful meeting and luncheon with Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez Eric Gonzalez and his dedicated staff. Alongside fellow Brooklyn NYCHA Resident leaders, we had the opportunity to engage in important conversations about public safety and community concerns.

In just the past month, we’ve seen some heinous attacks on police officers in NYC, including: one with part of his finger bitten off; another with part of his ear bitten off; and this latest vicious assault resulting in severe fractures to an officer’s face, among too many

Sixteen years ago, we lost Det. Omar Edwards — a dedicated officer, loving father, and respected member of our community. Today, his family, friends, and colleagues came together to honor his memory as we broke ground on the renovation of the park that proudly bears his name.

Surrounded by his loved ones, family in blue, and Jessica S. Tisch, Officer Nafees was released from the hospital to cheers and well wishes. Thanks to the relentless work of our NYPD Chief of Detectives and law enforcement partners, both suspects in last week’s Bronx attack have been apprehended.
