In a display of great sportsmanship at this year's charity Battle of the Badges tournament, the FDNY and NYPD Basketball teams took to the court at the legendary Barclays Center. Although we didn't secure the win this time, we recognize that the true winners are the charities.

Rivalry between agencies has always been part of city culture, but there is nothing like coming together for a good old fashioned PD/FD basketball game — especially when it is for a good cause. Congratulations to the FDNY Bravest on their victory. We’ll be back for that trophy

As Chair of Civil Service and Pensions, I stood with Traffic Enforcement Agents to say: Every risk at the crosswalk, every hour in the rain, every act of unseen service matters. S6988 is a stand for dignity, for justice—for the right to retire with the security you’ve earned.
